How Anytime Fitness Singapore uses Myzone to build training habits that last

By embedding Myzone into personal training and the wider member experience, Anytime Fitness Singapore has created a more measurable and engaging approach to fitness. Most of its personal training clients use Myzone, while some members have continued using the technology for nine years, demonstrating how it can become part of a member’s long-term training routine.

The challenge

Gyms across the world are looking for ways to keep members engaged, accountable and motivated to train consistently. Anytime Fitness Singapore is no exception. Nine years ago it invested in Myzone to make workouts more meaningful by giving members a clearer understanding of their training effort.

“Our main objectives for adopting Myzone were to enhance member engagement, create a more connected fitness experience and help members better understand their training intensity and progress,”

Trainers also needed a simple way to create more personalised coaching experiences and stronger relationships with members.

It worked. Personal training has become an important driver of Myzone adoption across the five sites.

“The majority of our active Myzone users are personal training clients. Trainers actively incorporate Myzone into their coaching sessions, which has improved member interactions by allowing conversations to become more data-driven and personalised,”

The approach

Anytime Fitness Singapore has embedded Myzone into the way trainers coach and members experience the club. Sembawang was the first club to adopt Myzone and today is Anytime Fitness Singapore’s strongest-performing Myzone club with the highest number of active users. When Myzone launched at Sembawang, the club made a significant effort to market the technology and integrate it into the member experience. Trainers encouraged members to use Myzone, incorporated it into personal training sessions and created engagement around challenges and achievements.

The lessons from Sembawang were subsequently applied across other Anytime Fitness clubs. These included:

  • Making Myzone part of the onboarding experience
  • Encouraging trainers to use Myzone during coaching
  • Creating challenges to drive participation
  • Recognising member achievements
  • Building a community around training rather than simply selling a device
“The biggest takeaway for us is that he success of Myzone depends not only on the technology, but also on how effectively the team creates engagement around it,”

The relationship can also last well beyond the initial PT programme with many former PT clients  still using Myzone years later. In fact, PT clients at Sembawang are still working with the technology nine years after it was introduced to the club, showing how Myzone has become part of members’ long-term fitness habit.

The results

Since introducing Myzone, Anytime Fitness Singapore has experienced consistent positive benefits across clubs and the way active users engage with their training:

Jennifer uses Myzone Challenges to keep engagement high, encouraging members to compete on effort rather than performance through metrics such as:

  • Improved retention – clients working out with Myzone tend to stay members for longer than non-Myzone users
  • Greater consistency – Myzone users train more often than those who don’t use the technology. Being able to track their progress and see measurable improvements motivates them to maintain their training routine
  • Long-term engagement – Some PT clients have continued using Myzone for five or six years, while members at Sembawang have continued for nine years
  • Stronger trainer interactions – Myzone allows trainers to use measurable data to give personalised feedback and improve coaching conversations.
  • Community building – Myzone users are more likely to take part in club activities and events and have greater interaction with trainers and the club community.

Looking ahead

Smart watches and fitness trackers have transformed the wearable market since Myzone was first introduced at Anytime Fitness Singapore. Today, members havea wide range of smart watches and tracking devices to choose from.

“Because of this, introducing Myzone to new users requires a strong focus on education and demonstrating its unique value. But that’s only part of the story. The success of Myzone comes from how the team uses it to improve the member experience.

Ultimately, Myzone is a valuable tool in helping members train with purpose, allowing trainers to coach more effectively and creating a stronger fitness community within our clubs.”
