How Westpark Fitness Unlocked €1.1M+ in Retained Membership Revenue With Myzone

Westpark Fitness is a premium, 5,500-member club in Dublin with a reputation built on community and coaching. Today, more than 3,600 of those members are active Myzone users, and that engagement is showing up directly in the club’s numbers.

The challenge

Westpark had everything a member could want on paper: strong facilities, quality coaching, a genuine sense of community. But like every operator, it faced the same quiet threat that erodes even the best clubs, members starting strong and gradually drifting away. Motivation dips. Life gets busy. Visits become less frequent, and less frequent visits are the earliest warning sign of a member who won’t renew.

Operator Kevin Doyle wanted a way to keep members motivated for the long haul through something that made effort and progress feel real, and made the club feel like somewhere members belonged.

What changed

Myzone gave Westpark something simple: a way to make effort visible, and a reason for staff and members to talk about progress instead of just attendance. Members walk into class and see their effort reflected back to them in real time. They get recognised by name for showing up, hitting a milestone, or simply getting back on track after a quiet month. They see their own progress reflected in colour, in comments, in a T-shirt or a leaderboard, and they start to see themselves differently: as someone who shows up, who’s improving, who belongs.

That shift shows up in the numbers. Members using Myzone visit the club 33% more often and are 20% more likely to still be members after 12 months. And for members who’ve stuck with it for the long term, more than 370 have been active Myzone users for three years or more, and 216 for over five. That loyalty adds up to an estimated €1.1M in retained membership value for the club.

None of that happens by accident. Kevin makes sure every staff member, not just the coaches, has time set aside each day to notice and celebrate what members are doing:

"They all have 30 minutes a day on Myzone to like, comment and connect."

That small daily habit is what makes members feel seen, not just tracked, and it’s a big part of why they keep coming back.

A community members are proud to belong to

Myzone has become part of the everyday language of the club: members see each others workouts on the screens, chat about their Myzone Effort Points (MEPs) and progress over coffee, and show up for each other in group classes and challenges. Staff know members by name and by story, not just by membership number, and take the time to comment, connect and celebrate every win, big or small through the Myzone app.

Two Myzone challenges run every month — one for members, one for staff — with around 300 people taking part each time, and winners chosen by prize draw rather than leaderboard rank, so newer and less confident members feel just as welcome to join in as the club’s fittest regulars. Team-based challenges have proved especially popular, turning individual effort into something shared. Achievements are celebrated in class, on social media, and even on branded towels and water bottles — small touches that make progress feel like something worth celebrating together.

The result is a club where members don’t just train alongside each other, they show up for each other. That sense of belonging is, as much as any single feature, what keeps people coming back month after month, year after year.

“In our experience, people that use Myzone get results faster, stay with us longer (retention is at least 20% higher after 12 months in Myzone users)  and get more out of their membership.”

More than a metric

For most members, Myzone means faster results and a stronger habit. But for one Westpark member, it meant something more: staying active through Myzone helped him maintain the fitness he needed to remain eligible for life-changing leukaemia treatment. It’s a powerful reminder that behind every visit and every MEP is a person, and that consistency can matter in ways far beyond the gym floor.

The result

Westpark set out to keep members motivated for longer, and built a genuine community in the process, one where showing up, improving and belonging all reinforce each other. The result is a business outcome any operator would want: more visits, stronger retention, and over €1.1M in membership value protected by members who simply kept coming back, for the results, and for each other.
