Nicole of LA Fitness winning physical activity challengeWhether it's habitual or financial, like many of us Nicole Henderson knows the challenges that lockdowns have presented. Winning a Myzone Global MEPs competition has allowed her family to get back in the gym for social, physical and mental wellbeing.

Below Nicole explains why her time at LA Fitness is important now more than ever.

Preventing long term health issues.

“The main reason behind my exercise routine is to maintain a healthy weight, benefit my heart health and for my mental health. My family has a history of obesity, high blood pressure and diabetes.”

“It has been difficult to keep to my routine during lockdown. I'm now working from home and shift work means that snacking had become a serious problem. I knew I had to continue to stay active, now more than ever, because I'm getting out less and eating more. I was beginning to notice the weight gain.”

Digital communities that support each other.

“I love to run or walk, and I have several workout DVDs that I do. Using a heart rate monitor has helped keep me motivated because seeing the progress I'm making with Myzone and keeping track makes me want to keep going.”

“I'm giving my second gym membership prize to my daughter. Her, her best friend and I all used to go to the gym together but, because of COVID, financially her friend could no longer afford the membership. I also had to put mine on hold last month for financial reasons. Now we can all start to go together again.

“I was honestly shocked and at first when I found out that I'd won. I thought it was not legit at first but I am excited. It will get motivated to do even more. Working out at home is good but I don't push myself as hard as i do when I’m in the gym.”

What is the Global MEPs Challenge about?

Nicole Henderson is a winner of the October 2020 Global MEPs Challenge. Open to all Myzone heart rate monitor users, the challenge could be entered by earning 1300 MEPs throughout the month, with a total prize value of $25,000.

If you want to get involved in the next challenge, see your Myzone app for details or pick the best heart rate monitor for you if you haven't already.
