Meet the HYROX Chicago 2025 Elite Men’s and Pro Doubles Champion – Tim Wenisch.

Following his victory at the 2025 HYROX Chicago elite men’s singles and pro doubles elite doubles, Tim Wenisch has stamped his authority as one of the sport’s standout names.

At just 26 years old, the German athlete became a two-time world champion.

“Hi I'm Tim, 26 years old, from the beautiful Allgäu (Bavaria). I’m a sports scientist and have been a HYROX athlete since 2018. To be the HYROX double world champion feels completely surreal.

“The title means the world to me – I finally get rewarded for the hard work in the past. I’m so happy to be able to give something back to my supporters.” .

A life in motion: Why activity matters

Long before the podium finishes and the roaring HYROX crowds, Tim’s passion for movement began in childhood.

“I have loved moving since I was little. Being active is a way of life that is wonderful.”

This deep connection with movement is what drives his training today. It’s a message that resonates with anyone looking to find joy in fitness.

How to get started with exercise

As a fitness industry, we talk a lot about engaging new people before they may have even started thinking of moving.

This is especially true for anyone that may be intimidated by goal setting or gym visits, and Tim encourages a shift in mindset.

“Setting process goals doesn't mean saying ‘I want to run 5km under 30mins.’ It means saying ‘I want to find a love for running in the near future.’ It's much more motivating.

“A group also helps you to keep going and have fun, you have more of a commitment to go! Don't put yourself under pressure and 2-3 times a week is enough.”

This advice reflects Myzone’s approach to exercise, focusing on motivation, effort and enjoyment; not just numbers.

Rethinking the gym experience

When it comes to attracting new exercisers, Tim has a refreshing perspective.

“Gyms are too slick for me. They are too clean, too classy and don't invite you to sweat. Gyms should be like a big playground for adults.”

By making gyms more about play, community, and effort, the fitness industry has a chance to become more inclusive and less intimidating.

Learning from setbacks

Even champions face challenges. Tim’s perspective on resilience shows why setbacks are stepping stones, and not stumbling blocks.

“No progress without defeat. I've had my fair share of setbacks. And through all the setbacks or defeats through injury or competition, I am now the best version of myself as I have learnt something from each one. Always take the positives from your experiences.”

The dream of a lifetime

For Tim, success is about more than medals. It’s about living the dream he once imagined as a child.

“Before the win in Chicago, apart from winning some great competitions, of course, my biggest achievement is that I am currently living the dream I always had as a little boy: to be an athlete and to meet lots of great people in the process.”

The exercise Tim Wenisch will never give up

If Tim had to choose just one exercise to carry with him forever, the answer is simple.

“Running - Forrest Gump gave me the love of running.”

How Myzone powers champions

Training with Myzone has been an essential part of Tim’s HYROX journey.

“Myzone has been my daily companion since I started HYROX. Thanks to Myzone I can always keep an eye on my heart rate – it improves my training enormously through the different zones.”

Even for gym operators, he has clear advice in order to help more people achieve their goals and keep them motivated.

“Be a trailblazer and show athletes how to train properly. The increased fun and better training success thanks to heart rate-orientated training will improve the quality of the fitness studio enormously.”

Heart rate training tips from the HYROX champion

One of Tim’s most practical pieces of advice is for anyone starting out with heart rate training.

“For someone just started out with heart rate training, focus 70% of your time in the green zone, 20% in the yellow zone, and 10% in the red zone – lets go!”

It’s simple, effective guidance that anyone can apply to their workouts.

A fitness champion’s closing words

Above all, Tim wants athletes at every level to remember why they move.

“Do everything just for you!”
